DELL XPS M1330 HAS A BUILT IN FLAW
Dell’s XPSM1330 experiences a periodic flaw where the computer system crashes and the screen goes totally black. Once you turn it back on, the screen continues to stay black and then displays vertical lines on the screen. This video shows what happens after I turn on the computer after the computer crashed. I had a similar problem like this happen to my Inspiron8600. Both were using Nvidia graphics cards. I was told by a Dell XPS tech support person and a Best Buy Geek Squad person that my graphics card must be replaced to fix this issue. Anyone else heard of a problem like this or experience it? I had my Inspiron8600 for about 4 years before it stopped working, however, I only had my XPSM1330 for 7 months before it started to do this.

yep, i just fixed again and mod it with copper sheet on Nvidia chipset and cpu chipset, average idle temperture Nvidia is 58 c (on atmosphere temp 22 c) vs 67 c without copper sheet.
-and i believe that if battery not hold charged it would cause this problem as well.. when i fixed with brand new 9 cell battery i let it run 8 hours no problem, i put back 6 cells near dead and problem occurs…this is so weird, but anyway if it run fine in 30 days i will sell mine.
I not sure it Bios …
I not sure it Bios or Bios problem, when i update to Bios A15 i had this problem and i downgrade back to A14 and problem still happen but it was back to normal in last few days, i don’t when it will happen again…but anyway i look like Bios A14 is most stable and reliable for M1330.
-This piece of crap cost me too much money, i just purchased another 2 batteries (6 cells and 9 cells), warranty is out 4 months ago.

Had this problem …
Had this problem with my Dell XPS 1330 when out of warranty. Laptop was on its way to the bin when I tried their support line. Turned out Nvidia extended the warranty on the GPU that was causing this problem and I had an onsite engineer form dell out to fix it (replace mobo) within a week. Haven’t had the problem since.

same problem on my M1330 happened after I closed the screen and put it in the laptop bag assuming it would power off in sleep mode when the screen closed, but it stayed on and got real hot, I took it out 1/2 hour later and it was real hot and now the video is messed up just like this youtube example, and crashes. sigh

Same problem, had …
Same problem, had mine fixed at a local shop (I think they replaced a chip). The problem is due to insufficient cooling; no matter how many times the MB is replaced, it will always have a risk of breaking unless you make sure the fans are fully on which makes such a loud noise…
Had my xps fixed 3 times so far (all under the local shop’s warranty)…

My experience with dell
I order a laptop XPS studio13 on March this year
In May after a lot of calls asking what happened they send to me an ordinary email saying that is lost in the send.
That I have 2 options, they can send it again or return my money.
I didn want to wait another month so I ask for the money (but it will take 48 days)
However they charge the 3 monthly quotas from my credit card.
Now in August Im still waiting for my money, the support number.. no solutions really useless.

That’s not a flaw …
That’s not a flaw with the computer model, it’s a result of your graphics component breaking. You’ll need a new motherboard since the graphics processing unit is built in to it.
I have the same …
I have the same laptop and what I’m thinking is that unlike the other PCs, when this crashes and the diskcheck runs through the files, there is a display issue and for the duration of the diskcheck the screen remains black (not very helpful). I I If you allow time for this check (the only way is for the display to return), it boots up as normal.
I just got this …
I just got this problems few weeks ago.. exactly the same as describing here.. after 24 months of using it… i don’t playing games though. My warranty is already expired.. so.. I don’t know yet what’s gonna happen.. does anybody get replacement from dell even though the warranty expired? Thanks
