How do I fix my virus infected computer myself?

So I have a virus or something on my computer, long story short when I scan my computer for viruses, it always stops and says the scan cannot be completed once it gets to a certain point. Pretty much the virus just keeps me from being able to run Internet Explorer, Chrome, etc. It always says the website cannot be found.

Is there a way I can fix this myself? I don’t want to have to pay Geek Squad to do something I can do myself. I’ve seen software to fix infected computers, would that work?

U need to get a tool

    REMOVING MALWARE/VIRUSES/SPYWARE:

Download and install the free version of Malwarebtyes anti-malware its a very effective malware remover, once installed update it and run a quick scan, remove anything it finds, your computer should now be clean.

If you downloaded but are unable to install Malwarebytes its likely the malware on your computer is blocking it in some way, try renaming mbam.exe to a random string of letters or numbers as the malware may be designed to block mbam.exe.

If you are still unable to install or download Malwarebytes try Hitman Pro its far less likely to be blocked, it scans with five different anti-virus engines at once, simply activate the 30 day free trial then once you PC has been cleaned remove it.

if you are unable to get to either of the websites please email me for advanced instructions on how to check your "hosts" file and device manager for malware.

If you haven’t got real-time anti-virus software installed on your PC id recommend installing Avast, its free and as effective as paid for software, after installing crank the heuristics protection up to the max and tick scan for PUPs under the web and file shield expert settings for maximum protection.

Yes, you can do that yourself.

Download an up to date anti virus program via another computer,
    (re)start your computer
hit F8 as soon as it starts up
    select safe mode
    run the virus scan

Don’t know what security software you have but I would suggest either replacing it or going into safe mode and scanning your drive again. If your security software cannot fix your drive in safe mode then you do need to replace it with a better one. Something like Kaspersky. It kicks but.

    Hello
It sounds like you’ve been infected with some kind of virus/spyware. If you can get access to another PC that has Internet I would suggest you download the free scanning tool called DR WEB CUREIT and run it from say a USB key on your infected machine.

You should find it located at this site http://www.freedrweb.com/

Worse comes to worse go to an Internet Cafe and download it.

    Good luck
