I am having this same problem. every one of my other Sims 2 games was working fine, up until i installed Apartment life. I have been through my computer and eliminated everything in the temps folders like EA tech support told me to, and made sure that all of my drivers are up to date. actually my system has a higher grade everything, than what the sims requires. I un-installed all the games, and re-installed all of them, still nothing has worked. i am going round and round with tech support . they just keep telling me it is my system. I'm getting really peeved off at them. figures, they start to bring a whole new game out, so the last sim's 2 game is set up to crash everything so you have to go and buy sims 3. My game actually turns off my monitor, and i have to hit Ctrl, Alt Del, to get it back. my suggestion is to go to www.thesims.com and click on help then tech support. just tell them it is their game, not your system. I'm running a Radeon 9000 and it is still crashing!
References :
Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This problem can be solved by uninstalling new software, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info
References :
ugh, i hate when that happens! that happened for a while on my computer, and its relatively new. What i did was unistall all the game and then re-installed them (its a drag, but it could work) also i learned that it could be that your computer is overheating, so make sure that if its a desktop, theres space for cooler air to pass by. Another thing could also be if you have tons of custom content, like i did. Try and eliminate some of them, and play with simpler versions of your custom content. hope this helps!
References :
blue screen of death you mean?
it's probably not the sims 2 AL thats caused it but usually restoring a backup works.
and if you don't have a backup then you don't deserve to breathe
