Why Free Registry Cleaners Do More Harm Than Good
Registry cleaners are fairly common nowadays, with various products available. There is a choice between free and shareware register
cleaners and commercial products you pay for. Most people will be tempted to use the free registry cleaner software offerings, this would seem to make sense,
but you should be very wary of any software that alters such a vital part of your computer system as the Windows registry.
The Windows registry is a database where all the information your computer needs to run is stored. The Windows registry stores information
and settings for all the hardware, software, operating system parameters and users on your system. Windows computers cannot run without a
registry so it is absolutely critical it is in good condition. Optimising the registry could easily delete entries your computer needs to
run correctly.
This is why I would personally not use free registry cleaners. Poorly written registry cleaners could literally destroy your computers

ability to run. Free registry cleaners do not have the support and development that a commercial product will enjoy. If you think about it,
how on earth are they going to be able to develop a product with no funds, they can’t is the obvious answer. Support? Forget it; there
won’t be any after their registry cleaner software has destroyed your computer.
This is of course bad news, a ruined operating system and no hope of support. The bottom line is you should invest in a good commercial
registry cleaner product and put any temptation to go ‘free’ right out of your mind. There no such thing as a free lunch as the saying
goes and registry cleaners are no exception to this rule.
My recommended registry cleaner software product is Registry Easy; I use it regularly as do some of my clients. It is a very effective
registry cleaner and automatically backs up the registry just in case.
